Dare to Adventure camp aims to provide more equitable access to the outdoors and American Youth Foundation programs by offering a low cost, mini-camp experience. Miniwanca staff lead activities designed to introduce youth to the outdoors and experience living joyfully in nature.<\/p>\n

Campers experience traditional camp activities such as swimming, canoeing, arts and crafts, high ropes and rock climbing courses, outdoor cooking and camping skills, and lots of fun, active games. They will also enjoy quieter moments of reflection and discussion about their values and what access to the outdoors means to them.<\/p><\/div>

What does Dare to Adventure cost?<\/h2>\n<\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div>

Dare to Adventure costs $10 to apply.<\/h2>\n<\/div><\/div><\/div>

All other program costs, including round-trip bus transportation to and from Miniwanca, are covered by the American Youth Foundation.<\/p>\n

Dare to Adventure serves 50 campers, and spots will be filled on a first-come, first-serve basis, pending medical review.<\/p><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div>

Who should apply?<\/h2>\n<\/div><\/div><\/div>
    \n \t
  • Campers must be youth entering 7 to 8 who have never experienced a summer camp before.<\/li>\n \t
  • Campers must hold at least one historically marginalized identity, including but not limited to Black\/African American, Asian\/Asian American\/Pacific Islander, Latinx, Indigenous, multi-ethnic, or LGBTQAI+.<\/li>\n \t
  • The primary caregiver\u2019s household income must be at or below living wage.<\/li>\n<\/ul><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div>
